The best cello stop is arguably the relatively new Fermata™. It should be called the "Firmata" for its excellent function. It attaches to both legs of the chair so that it will not slip on the floor. I have found every other type of endpin anchor to be able to slip on some floor surface. If you have performed enough you know that such slipping always occurs at the very worst time. I, like many other cellists, have struggled with keeping the cello from slipping. The standard rockstops, regardless of how much one spits on them and stomps them on the floor, will slip. I play cello in a baroque consort and we do "gigs" at various venues and the floors range from carpet (which works ok) to tile, metal, and slippery wood. The Fermata™ cello endpin anchor is the solution to the problem. The linear holes for the right position work great. Being a retired surgeon who likes to be in control of a troubling situation, the Fermata™ is the answer.
